WHY SPEDcamp SE MN?
The purpose of an Edcamp is to bring together educators from diverse fields to exchange ideas and learn together. Educators from Minnesota and neighboring states come together to participate in an unconference. Edcamps are not conferences! At the beginning of the day, the participants determine the sessions and topics that will be discussed. Everyone is welcome to propose and lead a session where conversation and collaboration are paramount. Educators from all areas have found that EdCamp is a great event to build their professional learning communities and create networks of colleagues who work together to push our profession forward. And the event is free! What could be better?
Anti-harassment Policy: The Edcamp Community and SPEDCamp Southeast MN are dedicated to providing a harassment-free experience for everyone, regardless of religion, gender, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, or age. The Edcamp Community does not tolerate harassment or bullying in any form of anyone at an Edcamp or at any events sponsored by the Edcamp Community. At the discretion of the Organizers, Participants violating these rules may be asked by Organizers to leave an Edcamp event; and at the discretion of the Edcamp Community, Organizers who violate this Policy may be precluded from hosting and organizing future Edcamp events. Our anti-harassment policy can be found at: https://digitalpromise.org/edcamp/anti-harassment-policy.
WHAT HAPPENS AT EDCAMP?
During the opening session, we will meet in the lecture hall to build our schedule. Attendees will be invited to initiate a session using the following choices:
Our next job is to fill in the blank schedule with the topics that you and your peers chose. Over the course of the day, you will have the opportunity to attend up to four sessions. The rule of an unconference is to "vote with your feet." If a session doesn't meet your needs, simply get up and move to another room. You will learn something new, develop new networking relationships, and leave with fresh ideas and information to apply immediately in your classroom and professional life.
